Why doTERRA?

Whole, pure, plant supports for me and my family (plus so much more).

I found doTERRA as I was seeking support for my thyroid condition. 90 lbs overweight and tired my new physician suggested an oil roller in addition to the traditional western medicine he was using to support me. He made one thing clear in that first meeting, “Make sure you know that what you are buying is pure!” He went onto say that essential oils are unregulated and as such can contain numerous fillers and synthetic fragrances that could further exacerbate my condition. How to make sure of purity was my question to him and he answered by stating that I needed to find an essential oil company that conducted and reported their 3rd party testing to ensure purity. A quick google search and consumer advocacy reports later it was clear that I had a choice of two; doTERRA and a company in Europe. It was actually quite shocking to see how many companies claimed to have pure products only to be found in consumer advocacy blind studies to have synthetics. But that is a story for another time… After finding doTERRA I remembered that a long time yoga mentor, Elena Brower, had shared about doTERRA on her social media account. We connected and she helped me to welcome these pure plant essences into my home and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! It was love from the start and our use of them has grown from my roller and diffusing lavender to a wide array of products and supports that nourish me and my entire family. After a year of enjoying these oils and feeling their benefit friends started to say things like “I need some of what you’ve been doing!” and my enjoyment of doTERRA turned into my doTERRA business as well. In addition to loving watching friends and family experience the benefit of these pure plant essences, shifting this into a little business has also welcomed me into an amazing team and company. They changed their lifestyles, took second mortgages, and worked without pay to make their own choices early on. doTERRA is now the largest essential oil company in the world, debt-free.

Through her determination, intuitive support and guidance she leads the company while support the many women (and men) who work with doTERRA; both in support of their families and as their career. Mamas, babies and families are welcomed, encouraged and supported through doTERRA, from classes to conferences. Women are also the primary workers in the cultivation and harvest of plants worldwide.

doTERRA gives back.

Healing Hands is doTERRA’s non-profit, and it is funded by members, employees and the executives of the company. Our option to donate each month on our monthly orders encourages this philanthropy, and the company raises funds via events as well. Healing Hands has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and has changed and lifted up many lives in several countries around the globe. It is service in partnership with the work dedicated to the rising of others.

doTERRA is committed to Co-Impact Sourcing worldwide.

doTERRA searches the globe to find the best locations to grow the plants for each oil; they team up with local farmers whose families have been growing and harvesting that plant for generations. The company then forms cooperatives, teaching the farmers improved growing techniques, harvesting and distilling methods, and elevates their quality of life. Paying them above the standard wages, doTERRA often brings in the Healing Hands foundation to improve the community as a whole, as well.

doTERRA's testing practices are stringent.

For transparent accountability, doTERRA has created an internal standard called Certified Pure Testing Grade® (CPTG), verified by third party labs. The name is a trademark; the standard is real and concrete. Stringent testing happens throughout the whole process (even monitoring soil quality) on EVERY liter. All of the basics are checked first: sight, smell, taste and touch. Then they test to rule out any presence of fungus, mold, pesticides, extenders and any other contaminants. Learn more about the science of their practices of testing here. 

Each location has its own specific laws and rules governing agriculture and collecting wild-crafted botanicals. If an oil fails the test, specifically pesticides, there is no secondary process for removing the pesticides or foreign matter. The oils failing the test would simply be rejected. Other than the careful distillation of the oils from botanicals, no other processing takes place. They are aromatic extracts, nothing added, and nothing removed; they either meet that standard or they don’t.
